# Changing origin

If you wish to change a page’s parent, choose Set Origin and select the new parent. If you know the title of the new parent, use the search function at the top of the page.

If the page’s template declares which kind of page it belongs under, or which specific page (see [Compose a page](https://strife.app/docs/user-guide/getting-the-basics/compose-a-new-document.md)), Set Origin lists only those pages. When none of them exists in this workspace, every page is listed and the search field says so.

Note! If a page has one or more descendants, then this will move all children beneath the page.
