Working with content

Rich text editor

When working with content using the Rich Text Editor, you get all the tools you need right at your fingertip. The Rich Text Editor allows you to add or edit content, images, links, and other components on the page without knowing any code.

You activate the edit menu by hitting enter, starting a new line, or selecting text or objects in the editor window.

The typography shown in the menu follows the setup of the website. Play around with the options in the edit menu and familiarize yourself with the other options.

Note! The Rich Text editor might not contain all the options described below. An administrator or a developer may have inactivated some of the options. The different options are strictly connected to the typography for the specific website that you are editing.

Heading 1-Heading 3: These are different headings to use when you create your content. HTML supports 6 levels of headings, but most websites do fine with 3-4 heading levels.

Bold: Bold is to be used for text without any extra importance but

Italic: Italic defines a part of a text in an alternate voice or mood. Italic is often used to indicate a technical term, a phrase from another language, a thought, a ship name, etc.

Underline: Underlines can be used to highlight important text

Strikethrough: Strikethrough represents things that are no longer relevant or accurate

Numbered list or bullet lists: An ordered list uses numbers or some notation that indicates a series of items

Quote: Quotes are intended to be used for short quotations

Divider: Can be used to visually separate different paragraphs to make the page more "light" to read.

Code: Can be used to show examples of code

Link: Creates a link to another URL

Picture: Adds a picture to the page by adding an URL link to the picture. We recommend always using the Image component instead of adding pictures in the Rich Text Editor due to the lack of control. Using the Image Component gives you full control over size and appearance. Strife also optimizes image formats if you use the Image component instead. To use the Image Component, you need to add it to the template, and you might need help from an administrator or a developer to get it done.

Video: Adds a video to the page by adding an URL link to the video.

Note! At the moment, we only support adding video content in the Rich Text Editor. Still, before launching Strife, there will be possible to use a Video Component instead, adding better control for editors and developers.

Note! You get many extra features when using video from the media gallery in Strife. Read about the benefits of using Strife as your repository for your video content in the chapter Using Video Content.
